I’m happy to write that The Pyramid Decision Intelligence Platform was positioned in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, 20221 which was published today. This is the 9th year in a row that the Pyramid Platform has appeared in a report that the analytics and BI community eagerly awaits. Regardless of position, just meeting Gartner’s inclusion criteria is an accomplishment. So yay for us and our competitors who made the shortlist.
The ABI market is extremely crowded. TechnologyAdvice estimates that there are more than 100 analytics and BI vendors globally. These run the gamut from small specialists such as Heap that focus on product analytics to megaliths that got into the space by gobbling up formerly independent vendors; Salesforce/Tableau is a prime example. Just 20 ABI technology companies made it into the 2022 MQ.
Gartner’s evaluation was based on specific criteria that analyzed the overall completeness of vision and ability to execute of the companies that made the cut. Having lived through many Magic Quadrant cycles over my career, I can tell you that Gartner’s process is rigorous. And it is both quantitative and qualitative. Opinion of the Gartner analyst team is inherent. Other inputs are limited or subjective. For example, Gartner considers how many inquiries they get about your company from their enterprise clients. At an average of USD $30,000 per seat, plus additional consulting costs in order to receive personalized advisory services – and this is a 2020 stat – many companies don’t budget for or can’t afford a Gartner relationship. And it’s getting even more cost-prohibitive. Gartner reported during the company’s Fourth Quarter 2021 Earnings Conference Call on Feb 8, 2022, that contract value growth accelerated to 16 percent. And only clients can make inquiries.
Another source of market opinion considered by Gartner are reviews on Gartner Peer Insights (GPI) the analyst firm’s peer-driven ratings and reviews platform for enterprise IT solutions and services covering over 300+ technology markets and 3,000 vendors. Back in 2020, at the start of the COVID pandemic, Gartner stopped interviewing a vendor’s customers and relied 100 percent on GPI reviews. The Pyramid Decision Intelligence Platform is rated 4.5 Stars on a scale of 1 to 5 and based on 115 reviews on Gartner Peer Insights.
Aside from knowing what goes into an MQ evaluation, it’s also important to understand that the Magic Quadrant is a look back in time. Surveys for the Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, 2022 were submitted last October; five months ago. Data and other information provided in those responses were for the prior 12-month period.
So much has happened over the past five months at Pyramid Analytics. We’ve added nearly two dozen technology, ISV, and Si/consulting partners. Our Sales and Marketing teams have grown exponentially. The Marketing Team quadrupled. The Pyramid Platform customer base has grown double digits. Brand awareness has increased on tailwinds from strategic investments in digital marketing, demand generation, corporate communications, and tech stacks underpinning those functions. A new and even more feature-rich version of the Pyramid Decision Intelligence Platform was released.
All of the above influence Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.
Decision Intelligence is seen by many experts as what’s next in analytics. Gartner does not evaluate all of the technologies at the core of the Pyramid platform that empower all users in an enterprise to make data-driven decisions. We encourage technology buyers to seek out information from multiple sources. Gartner Critical Capabilities for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, 2021 is an excellent place to start. The detailed, meticulous evaluation goes several clicks down from the higher-level Strengths and Cautions of the MQ.
