Universal Health Services (UHS) is a powerhouse in the American healthcare system—delivering life-changing care through its subsidiaries/hospitals and behavioral health facilities. With 99,000 employees and operations spanning 39 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.K., UHS, through its subsidiaries, delivers high-quality acute care, behavioral health services, emergency rooms, outpatient centers and managed health plans. From high-stakes surgeries to vital mental health treatment, UHS touches millions of lives each year
THE CHALLENGE
UHS faced a familiar enterprise challenge: fragmented data ecosystems across multiple business units. From finance and accounting to talent acquisition and supply chain operations, teams relied on siloed tools—primarily Excel, SSRS and static Crystal reports—limiting collaboration, insight sharing, and time to decision.
Even worse, insights were often only available to technical users. Operational teams were forced to submit reporting requests and wait—delaying the very decisions that could drive performance, efficiency, or cost savings. Executives lacked realtime, consolidated access to KPI’s across 29 hospitals and 1,100+ providers. Manual reporting slowed decision-making and made consistency difficult. It was time for a change.
