THE CHALLENGE
ABB used ProClarity for all their financial planning and analysis (FP&A). When Microsoft officially ended support for ProClarity, its business intelligence and analytics software at the time, ABB faced several challenges and concerns. First off, unsupported software means an end to maintenance and performance fixes. Over time, this can lead to increased instability, data corruption and poor user experience. Additionally, unsupported software exposes security risks and compliance issues due to the lack of security patches or updates, which can lead to fines or other legal consequences.
The ABB team knew they had to find a new, flexible solution, and began exploring Analytics and Business Intelligence solutions capable of leveraging their data estate, which included SQL applications and SAP/BW.
“We needed more than just a replacement for ProClarity – we also needed self-service analytics, collaboration and the ability to share business logic and insights.”, says Patrycja Czech, IS
Service Owner. “We evaluated several solutions including Oracle, Qlik, SAC, Tableau, Power BI and Pyramid Analytics, and we quickly realized Pyramid was the answer.”
