A unified platform developed from the ground up integrating the best-in-class core disciplines of data preparation, business analytics and artificial intelligence.
Tableau's core analytics run on a standalone desktop app, while lighter analytics are web-based. Data prep requires a separate desktop app, and Salesforce's 'Einstein' is used for data science.
A no code interface that puts advanced functionality in the hands of the everyday business user. You get access to a variety of self-service scenarios (add/swap/dice, custom sort, perform context calculations, etc.) without involving devs.
Tableau does not match Pyramid’s AI toolset and no-code experience for business users who want to tap into sophisticated analytics without complexity. Tableau’s augmented analytics capabilities are far less extensive and limited.
Pyramid has a modern services- based architecture which is modular, highly scalable, and very robust. It can be deployed anywhere, on prem or in the cloud, putting the choice in the hands of the customer.
Tableau's deployment differs across on-prem, server and SaaS based versions. It’s a mix of desktop installs for authoring and web interfaces for consumers. This makes it harder to deploy and maintain the entire solution on a consistent version.
Pyramid prioritizes centralized access control. Our CMS is not just for administration, but forms a fundamental part of the user experience, integrating and leveraging the analytics catalog into every part of the data process.

Our PYRANA is a direct query engine. Every aspect of its query and advanced logic handling works on any SQL-based tech, enabling users to choose one or more data stack options based on business purpose, scaling requirements or cost.
Tableau’s direct query operates on the underlying data sources like Pyramid, but it is noticeably slower - the differential increasing levels of calculation complexity. This can become a big problem while scaling up or adding new data sources.
Pyramid has the most efficient query shape, being able to create calculations within dimensions (non-metric-based calculations) so that queries resemble the output that users expect.
Tableau can’t create calculations within dimensions leading to a very inefficient query shape. For example, a task needing 3 calculations with Pyramid Analytics required no less than 18 calculations in the Tableau platform.
Pyramid’s Gen BI capabilities extend through the entire platform. It’s chatbot works directly off any source without the need to ingest data and can answer sophisticated queries in speech or text, along with multi-LLM support.
Tableau Pulse requires a substantial amount of setup and user intervention. Einstein Copilot for Tableau requires data to be ingested and is limited to basic questions and answers with a lack of sophistication and depth of content creation.
We could not be more pleased with Pyramid, particularly the embedding capabilities—they have exceeded our expectations. We have been future-proofed with Pyramid. We are with the right team, all under one umbrella.
We're able to use Pyramid to display data in a way that our clients require, but that they struggle to do with other platforms. It's been a competitive advantage for us.
Being able to connect into SAP was a huge win for us and to be able to pull that data through, with prompts on our live connection was great.
Users throughout the organization were able to use Pyramid really quickly. We didn't need to send trainers onsite to educate people because there's no big learning curve.
Pyramid has unlocked some new possible revenue opportunities for us. It has opened up possibilities that we didn't have going into this. It has been wonderful, with unexpected benefits.
