2021 Gartner Critical Capabilities Report

„The augmented era of analytics has begun. Data and analytics leaders should begin provisioning capabilities that support analytic consumers as well as authors. This research will help guide their choices of vendor solutions in this space.“

Key Findings:

  • „Organizations are beginning to consider direct query architectures. This is a major departure from the in-memory architectures of the visual data discovery era of analytics.“
  • „Natural language query (NLQ), natural language generation (NLG), reporting, and catalogs are the most differentiated critical capabilities in the market. The standard deviation across all scores for all vendors is 0.818, but it jumps to 0.987 for these four capabilities.“
  • „Many organizations are leveraging the move to a cloud data storage architecture as an opportunity to consolidate their front-end analytics and business intelligence (ABI) platforms.“
