BARC score: an impressive debut for Pyramid Analytics

We are excited to announce that Pyramid Analytics has been recognized by BARC as a challenger in its Score Business Intelligence (Enterprise BI Platforms) 2016 report. This is the second annual publication of the Score, which analyzes leading vendors in the enterprise business intelligence platform market, and marks Pyramid’s strong debut on the Score graph. As a challenger on the Score, Pyramid is well positioned, given its functionality and breadth, to support different usage scenarios in the enterprise in one integrated product and strengthening its market execution.

As a new company on the Score, we are particularly excited about how BARC rated us on the portfolio dimension—above ratings for Tableau, Qlik, Sisense, and 14 other companies. This rating, on the dimension that speaks to how well the product is able to support different usage scenarios and meet customer needs, validates the hard work Pyramid has put in over the years to build the best analytics platform in the market.

The BARC Score Business Intelligence (Enterprise BI Platforms) evaluates vendors along two dimensions: portfolio capabilities and market execution. Portfolio capabilities include product functionality, infrastructure, as well as portfolio integration, and maturity. The market execution dimension focuses on product, sales, and marketing strategy; customer satisfaction; financial and organizational strength; geographical coverage; and ecosystem.

This strong showing comes just one month after Pyramid’s outstanding performance in THE BI Survey 16 from BARC, where Pyramid achieved the #1 rank in several key categories, including “self-service,” “customer experience,” and “chosen as the standard.”

Highlighted Strengths

The BARC Score Business Intelligence (Enterprise BI Platforms) report pointed out several strengths of BI Office. From content lifecycle tracking and sharing to storytelling through dynamic text to its breadth as a governed analytics platform—including self-service data discovery that caters to business users, not technical experts.

Content Lifecycle Tracking and Sharing

Content lifecycle tracking and sharing is a key strength of the BI Office platform. By decoupling business logic and visualizations from the data model, BI Office allows users to share custom calculations and sets for reuse throughout the enterprise. If that logic must be altered, it will update for every content asset referencing it – from dashboards to reports. Users can create logic once, store it on the server, and reference it instead of embedding it in documents isolated on a desktop or in a file share. And through its lineage tool, users can view who used specific content, when it was used, and in what context.

Dynamic Text That Enhances Your Data Storytelling

BI Office supports storytelling through its dynamic text capabilities. Users can create data-driven text that changes based on rules they’ve created. This enables all business users to construct narratives that contextually interact with the data, turning it into information that leads to better decisions and smarter actions.

A Complete Analytics Platform That Doesn’t Compromise Governance for Self-Service Agility

As an analytics platform, BI Office offers self-service features to end users of different levels—from BI novices to technically advanced analysts. All analytic workflows (modeling, exploration, dashboarding, and contextually-rich reporting) are supported in one centralized platform, giving users the ability to do what they need to. This usability includes advanced analytic capabilities, such as forecasting, clustering, and predictive modeling, that are accessible to users of all technical skill levels.

Pyramid Analytics wants business users to gain agility without compromising governance and security. BI Office was developed as an enterprise platform that manages both users and data while supporting self-service. This approach allows IT to facilitate end-user satisfaction while preventing issues caused by isolated analytics.
